Amnis Pura and Wärtsilä Gas Solutions Collaborate for Sustainable Hydrogen Production

23 Oct 2024

Strengthening its global presence, Amnis Pura is providing a suitable hydrogen purification system to Wärtsilä Gas Solutions Norway AS, a world leader in marine and energy technologies.

Currently in development phase, this system is being designed to purify clean hydrogen derived from an ammonia cracking process, which will be integrated into shipping operations.
Wärtsilä, known for its commitment to decarbonization and reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the maritime sector, views this partnership as a pivotal step toward enhancing its ammonia cracking capabilities.

By leveraging this new technology, Wärtsilä Gas Solutions aims to create sustainable value, mitigate climate change and protect ecosystems.

A circular and sustainable economy within the shipping industry

Dr. Frederico Relvas, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Amnis Pura, emphasized the ambitious scope of the project, explaining that their purification technology selectively removes contaminants from gas mixtures through a packed bed adsorption column. He noted that this approach ensures high performance and gas purity level, which are essential for minimizing emissions in the marine environment.

Dr. Relvas also highlighted the importance of Amnis Pura’s pressure swing adsorption (PSA) expertise as a cornerstone in advancing sustainable solutions.

This collaboration underscores both companies’ commitment to a circular and sustainable economy. By combining their specialized knowledge, Amnis Pura and Wärtsilä Gas Solutions aim to make a significant impact on the decarbonization of the shipping industry.
